HEALTH WATCH SHEFFIELD

Following the stakeholder involvement in Sheffield, the tendering process for Sheffield Healthwatch has now been completed, slightly later than planned.

Bids for both lots have been evaluated by a formal panel. Also two diverse Citizen Reference Groups, one for each lot, evaluated bids via a presentation and interview process with questions designed by the groups. Core Healthwatch Sheffield Citizen Reference Group had 14 members and the NHS Complaints Advocacy Reference Group had 6.

The results of the process are:

Healthwatch

Three bids were received for the Healthwatch core contract.  The contract has been offered to a consortia bid led by Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS) and including Community Legal Advice Services South Yorkshire (CLASSY), Sheffield Wellbeing Consortium and Sheffield Mental Health CAB and Advocacy services Ltd.

If you want to influence local health and social care services before Healthwatch is established you can contact Sheffield LINK.

NHS Complaints Advocacy Service

As part of the Healthwatch procurement process we also asked interested organisations to bid to provide a specialist independent advocacy service for people who want to complain about a National Health Service. Four bids were received for the NHS complaints advocacy service.  The contract has been offered to VoiceAbility.

This service is currently arranged by the Department of health and provided in Sheffield by the  Carers Federation.

We would like to record our thanks to everyone who has taken part for their contributions to the process so far.

What happens now?

We will be working with the successful organisations to arrange formal contracts and smooth transitions to the new arrangements in time for the services to start work from 1 April 2013.
