Drive Safe (Driving@60)

South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership are working together with Safety 1st Driving Academy to produce an interactive road safety session for South Yorkshire drivers aged 60+

The Aim of the Sessions

• To enhance the skills older drivers already have

• To provide older drivers with up to date information about the modern road system

• To enable older drivers to drive safer, for longer

Learning Outcomes

• To have an awareness of how the law may have changed since an older driver passed their test

• To have a better awareness of road safety

• To recognise the older drivers own strengths or weaknesses in relation to how they interact with other road users

• To become more skilled and relaxed whilst out and about

Session Content

• Road Safety advice with Driving Instructors approved by the Driving Standards Agency

• The chance to interact with members of the emergency services and understand their role at collision scenes and discuss road safety issues

• Health & Wellbeing advice from a variety of health specialists and organisations to include eye care specialists and many more

• The opportunity to arrange a practical based driver coaching and advice session with an approved driving instructor

Course Information

• The sessions will be held at the Lifewise centre in Hellaby, Rotherham or at a community venue in your local area subject to suitability.  They will last for approx 3 hours with a refreshment break included.

• The event, including the ‘on road’ coaching and advice sessions, is completely FREE to drivers aged 60+ who reside in South Yorkshire

• Booking in advance is preferred
