Health Trainer Lowedges, Batemoor & Jordanthorpe

18.75 hours per week (Salary:  £15,860 pro rata)

Initially for 5 months – extended subject to funding


An exciting opportunity has arisen for Gleadless Valley Community Forum to appoint a Health Trainer to join our local community health team.  The Health Trainer will work with people from the Lowedges, Batemoor & Jordanthorpe area, initially to provide them with 1:1 support to help individuals and their families to make healthy choices and lead healthier and more active lives.

 Do you have experience of working with local communities and the ability to motivate people to make positive changes with their behaviour and lifestyle choices?  Would you like the opportunity to help address health inequalities and improve the long-term health of communities?  If yes, then this could be the perfect job for you!


The post holder will:

  • Promote positive health and well-being messages within the LBJ community
  • Identify and support individuals to develop a personal health plan
  •  Encourage and facilitate long-term positive lifestyle changes
  •  Work closely with one of the GP practices in the area

Knowledge of the local area is desirable, so applications from residents within this community are particularly welcome. 

We are looking for someone who enjoys a challenge and has the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing.

The work is being delivered in partnership with the NHS Sheffield as part of the Sheffield Healthy Communities Programme.
