Recovery Conference

Sheffield Drug & Alcohol Action Team is organizing a FREE local conference for and on behalf of Sheffield Safer and Sustainable Communities Partnership.

Building Recovery Locally: Sheffield Conference

10th July 2012, 9.30am – 4pm, Hilton Hotel, Sheffield

The National Drug Strategy (2010) published in December 2010 is ambitious about building recovery in communities and supporting people to live drug free lives.  It sees it as essential to the recovery of individuals that they have somewhere to live, something to do and the ability to form positive relationships.  This is known colloquially as the national “recovery agenda”.

To implement the national vision, local collaboration between housing professionals, the voluntary sector, adult education providers and employers to name but a few is essential.

Aims of the conference:

The conference will seek to:

  • inform stakeholders about the national “recovery agenda”
  • identify the important role for local stakeholders in building recovery locally
  • gain a commitment from stakeholders to work collaboratively with Sheffield DAAT to build recovery locally inSheffield
  • develop local pledges around building recovery locally
  • identify local Recovery Champions.

Who should attend?

The conference is aimed at community stakeholders, leaders and influencers who would like to learn more about how to build recovery from drugs and alcohol at a local level.

Community Assembly Leads, Community Leaders and Community Forums, Neighbourhood Managers and Safer Neighbourhoods Officers, Housing Managers and Landlords, GPs and other local key stakeholders.
