Courses in Lowedges, Batemoor & Jordanthorpe

To be eligible for these FREE courses you must be aged 18 years or over and be unemployed or economically inactive.

All courses will be for ten sessions each lasting for two hours

Introduction to Microsoft Office 2010

Starting on Wednesday 16th May at 1 pm

This course will explore the basics in Word Processing, Desktop Publishing, Spread sheets, Databases and Power point presentations.

This course will be held at Greenhill / Bradway Youth Centre

Nail Art

Starting on Friday 11th May at 9.30 am

This course is designed to give learners an insight into nail art.

Learn how to: create basic nail art designs by using gem stones, marbling, glitter dust. Prepare and apply Foils to fingers and toes!

This course will be held at Batemoor & Jordanthorpe Community Centre


Starting on Thursday 10th May at 10 am

Learn how to make concertina books , glass painting, card making, dry needle felting and more.

 All materials are supplied free of charge and you get to take home what you make!

This course will be held at Greenhill / Bradway Youth Centre

 Wall Climbing

Starting on Friday 11th May at 1 pm

This will include: basic movement / balance, footwork /lower body techniques, route reading, arêtes / volumes, crimps, steep ground and slopers.

Have fun, get fit, gain self confidence as well as learning new skills! 

This course will be held at Little London Road – you can even claim your bus fare back!

UK Online

UK Online sessions are aimed at helping people get back into work. These sessions cover the skills needed to use the Internet for job searches, applying for jobs online and the use of and setting up e-mail accounts.

Don’t worry if you’ve never used a computer before, you can start with the basics of using the keyboard and mouse, with an experienced tutor on hand to help you learn.  Each session is for 2 hours.

Cost: FREE

Sessions are held on:

Tuesdays – 10 am

Wednesdays – 6.30 pm

Fridays – 9.30 am

These sessions will be held at Greenhill / Bradway Youth Centre

Learning Windows 7 & Office/Open Office 2010

Starting on Tuesday 24th April at 12.30 pm for ten weeks

Learn all about how to use Windows 7, Office 2010 and / or Open Office effectively. Explore the applications that are overlooked in Windows 7, to be more productive and keep your computer running smoothly. You should already be familiar with a computer and need to be able to use the mouse and keyboard.

This course will be held at Greenhill / Bradway Youth Centre

Creative Computing

Starting on Monday 28th May at 6.30 pm for ten weeks

This course will teach you how to use the computer to create a variety of personal gifts using your own photographs, such as cards, calendars, photo books and DVDs.
